The New York Institute for Haiti Advocacy is a publicly supported foundation, as per section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
Our mission is to advocate for the rights and dignity of immigrant New Yorkers.
- We encourage the participation of minorities in all aspects of life in New York.
- We instill public understanding of the cultures and customs of immigrants in New York.
- We promote new knowledge and concepts in service of international justice.
- We identify and disseminate information about best practices in human rights.
Advocacy News is the flagship e-publication of NYIHA. This e-publication fosters understanding of the varied origins of today's world communities to promote diversity. Our activities are executed with the support of NYIHA's Board of Directors. Dr. Steeve Coupeau serves as Editor-in-Chief and Publisher.
Dr. Coupeau has 12 years of domestic and international experiences in program execution and evaluation and creative idea generation in programming. His publications relate to the strategic mobilization of knowledge to enhance community access and civic engagement. Dr. Coupeau served on the Advisory Board of the Afro-Brazilian Coalition for Human Rights and Social Justice. He has written and consulted widely on Latin American and Caribbean politics for various media outlets and academic publications including Avanzada (Uruguay) and Estudos Afro-Asiaticos (Brazil). Dr. Coupeau is currently a partner of OneWorld Network as well as a contributor to Alterinfos.org: News from Latin America.
