Über uns

Many people with disabilities in our communities face a lot of discrimination including denying them chance to education, jobs & other with few or less &laws to advocate for their rights, Lawrence (Who is also living with disability) with his fellow friends started in 2013 Connect people with disabilities (ConnectPwds) a registered NPO offering education opportunities to people with disabilities so that they may be able to attain training that will avail them chances to be employed or self-employers & sustain their lives.

Mission
To develop sustainable programs that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in Uganda.

Vision
ConnectPwds grows through our own strength, we continue to develop a regional network of mobility and independent living services for people with disabilities, and we learn to become self-sustainable and to support Pwds from the incomes of our social enterprises.

Our programs focus on social, educational and professional inclusion of persons with disabilities.
Our services cover a wide range of needs of disabled children and adults with disabilities, from appropriate equipment for different types of mobility disabilities, to physical rehabilitation and independent living training, by a multidisciplinary team including trainers who are wheelchair users themselves..
We provide a holistic care, quality treatment and support for individuals, households and communities with disability problems through advocacy education, treatment, research and capacity building.
Objectives
• To facilitate the access of people with disabilities to quality mobility equipments for truly independent living.
• To support the supply of sustainable local services for people with disabilities.
• To facilitate independence and access to rights for people with disabilities.
• To increase community participation in service provision for this group

Projects:
• Empowerment through education sponsorship: All PWDs should recieve either formal or vocational training to be able to live a sustainable life. We thus create and get them sponosorship opportunities.
• Help: PWDs integrate into the community: Our team advocate for the rights of the PWDs in our communities and fight against descrimination so as to provide equal opportunities.
• Connecting them to job opportunities: PWDs are also a people who need to take care of their needs. Many times are descriminated and denied job opportunities. We thus look for job opportunities for them and also provide financial capital to start their own businesses.
• Providing support / assistive device i.e. hearing aids, crotches, wheel chairs
• Providing mentorship, counseling to people with disabilities: Sometimes it takes a word of wisdom. Many of colleagues get discouraged by the situation they live and go through. We visit to encourage, counsel and mentor. Please support our Outreaches today!
• Engaging them into inclucive activities i.e. sports: We have seen many of our colleagues achieving due to several inclusive activities like Sports that we engage them into.
