Über uns

The Center for International Humanitarian Law & Human Rights (CIHLHR), established in 2006 and based in Taiz/Yemen, is a voluntary non-profitable civil organization and works independently. It aims to enlighten and train people to know about the International Humanitarian Law & Human Rights.
Its vision is summarized by targeting keeping the human dignity, completing construction the equality and the justice society, law dominance, protecting public freedoms, citizens' rights in the atmosphere of fraternity and forgiveness and spreading mercy among the Yemeni Society without any nepotisms or differences.

Activities:
• Training courses with the themes: Conventions of children’s rights; communication skills; computer using skills; development of journalistic skills and democratic awareness
• Workshops with the theme: The role of civil society in promoting transparency and accountability
• School clubs: to introduce the students to the Geneva Conventions and the Declaration of Human Rights.
• Festivals: Youth Festival for Humanity

Program: School Journalism & Raising Democratic Awareness
CIHLHR will implement a journalism program in 10 high schools in both rural and urban areas in Yemen. The project will train 60 students aged 15 to 17 on journalism skills, and will introduce them to national and international regulations related to freedom of expression and the role of free speech in strengthening democracy. CIHLR will first conduct a training for trainers program for the teachers who will be training the students. To insure success of the program, CIHLHR will work with the Ministry of Education and will partner with private media organizations to provide training and mentor for the students. The participants will also meet political activists to learn from them the role of media in promoting democracy.

For other net participants we can deliver a lecture and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
