Über uns

Shelter Don Bosco is a Non Governmental Organisation working with the Roofless and Rootless Street Children of the city of Mumbai since 1987. Initiated by the Salesian Society in the Province of Mumbai, Shelter Don Bosco is a part of the Don Bosco family of institutions that work with and for youth, especially the emarginated ones. Over the past years Shelter Don Bosco has responded to the growing needs and demands of our young friends in various ways, each of which has led to several different projects that seek to empower the marginalized child.
Shelter Don Bosco is a Child Care Institute registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act of 2015 and has been caring for Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP). Besides the resident children, we also have an After-Care Home for boys above 18 years called 'Bosco Care Centre' wherein we provide residence, opportunity to study and pursue a career to Care-leavers. Shelter Don Bosco is also involved in outreach work reaching out to the destitute young men and social delinquents who live on the streets.

Aims and Objectives
• To reach out to the unreached rootless roofless children.
• To empower them by imparting education, skill training and holistic personality development programmes.
• To assist them in integrating into the larger society and settling down with dignity and independence.
• To strive to protect and promote the rights of children.
• To work towards creating a just society by sensitizing the larger Society and making them aware of the situation and dynamics of children and youth living in difficult situations especially on streets through various programmes.

What We Do?
• Outreach: Seek out children of the streets and educate them about leading a more fulfilling life.
• Therapy: Wean them away from the streets and substance abuse
• Education: Provide education and encourage them to start saving.
• Training: Impart life skills training as well as technical training
• Restoration: Return to their homes or group homes for independent living.
• Prevention: Prevent at-risk groups from coming on the streets.

For other net participants we can establish new contacts in the field of Child Care and Youth activities.
