Über uns

In 1991 the Badlisy Center for Kurdish Studies (BCKS) was founded in the state of Florida, the founder is Dr. Salah Aziz. The name for the organization, in his view, had to honor kurdish scholarship and reflect the nature of the organization. Therefore, he chooses to name the center after Sharafkhan Badlisy (1543-1603), a noted Kurdish scholar, who wrote the first history of the Kurds, in the sixteenth century.

Badlisy Cultural Center (BCC) was founded in 2000 as a non-government organization, always working in the field of humanity. BCC aims to increase the public awareness on various modern issues related to Kurdish life today. It organizes lectures, workshops and conferences, as well as it publishes books and journals. Since its establishment, BCC has focused on promoting human rights, democracy and civil liberty in Kurdistan. BCC leads a newsletter publication concerning NGOs' activities; NAMAH is the name of the journal.

The aim of NAMAH is to provide NGOs, activists, donors, and local authorities with information about the activities carried out by the Badlisy Network of NGOs, news about international events, and tools which strengthen NGOs' capacity. The pages 1-9 are in Kurdish, 10 and 11 are in Arabic, and page 12 is in English.

Bakhtiyar Abdullah is the executive director of the BCC.
