About us

Founded at the end of 1980 by about 40 planning-interested citizens (at that time, its cause was the traffic planning at the "Hagenmarkt") the association has meanwhile developed to a kind of "citizens' action group for all cases" with 110 members at the moment. We discovered very soon that if you want to achieve a citizen-friendly town planning you also have to deal with other fields of environment.

Experts and interested laymen are collaborating in the working- groups bicycle traffic, "ÖPNV"-town planning, ecological impetus and sound cities. On the one hand, the employment serves their own further education, but on the other hand also the town planning is critically observed and alternatives are worked out. Due to the fact that the working-groups determine the contents of their work themselves, the main emphasis of the subjects dealt with may change from time to time. Anybody can cooperate; it is not necessary to be a member of the braunschweiger forum.

Among other things, the objectives of the association are:

- to inform citizens and politicians about problems and measures of the town planning of the city of Braunschweig,
- to develop concepts for the solution of current planning problems and to discuss them with citizens and politicians,
- to make suggestions for a citizen-friendly and environmentally suitable further development of the city of Braunschweig

We can give expert advice on the above mentioned fields of town planning and public participation. We inform about our work in our regularly appearing circular letter and pamphlets on individual subjects which appear from time to time (these papers are free of charge for members).
