About us

Disaster Volunteers of Ghana (DIVOG) is a non-profit, non-partisan non-governmental organization (NGO) working to assist in the improvement of the lot of the vulnerable and deprived in society through education and other integrated rural development programmes. DIVOG is based in the Ho district of the Volta region of Ghana. Its mission is to be the leading established youth voluntary organization in Ghana, satisfying the expectations of the communities by providing efficient and high quality voluntary services to fight natural or man-made disasters with local and international volunteers.

Aims and objectives:

- To assist rural and urban dwellers in times of man-made or natural disaster,
- to promote the development of Ghana's youth,
- to provide support to the rural population in terms of education and environment,
- to provide primary health care to the aged and disabled,
- to empower women through micro enterprise,
- to promote volunteerism and involve volunteers in programs that enable rural communities to help themselves,
- to promote cultural diversity programs.

Some of its projects:

- Amewdzofe community projects: Helped in the construction of a three classroom block, provided free computer training, first aid training, provided free medical care.
- Kpedze Todze community and other projects: Helped in the construction of a three class room block, constructed a wash room for the Community School, provided a signpost for the Community School, free computer studies to Bello Business School, first aid training, donated free educational and teaching kits to the school, donated computers and printers to the school, donated used clothes to the community.
- Education: strengthening teaching, providing basic education, particularly for girls, improving the quality of secondary education, particularly in math, science, and English as a foreign language, developing informal education and vocational training,
- HIV and AIDS: Prevention education and awareness, providing care and support for people living with HIV and AIDS, supporting orphans and vulnerable groups.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Further we can procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
