Qui sommes-nous

Sursawera, Society for understanding a region for social awareness, welfare, empowerment and rural advancement, is a non-government organization committed to developmental issues, with a primary focus on watershed development programmes. The organization has chosen state of Jharkhand to begin with, for carrying out various projects and programmes aimed at empowering and uplifting the tribal communities of the region. Its mission is to combat poverty, hunger, illiteracy, child labour and exploitation of natural resources for sustainable development.

Aims and objectives:

- to act as a catalyst of change and development in Jharkhand,
- to reduce economic disparity through an integrated approach to development,
- to help in developing and strengthening community assets,
- to inject new and appropriate technological inputs into rural areas,
- to encourage conservation and management of natural resources.

Sursawera aims at promoting better educational facilities and basic education in the region. This includes vocational training through formal as well as nonformal methods, counselling of children and their parents to help them understand the value of education and working in collaboration with the government system, private organizations and NGO's to guarantee that education reaches everyone. Sursawera undertakes cultural and sports activities for greater discipline and unity.

Realising the need for adequate health facilities among the people of Jharkhand, Sursawera is also committed to assist the government in extending the basic health infrastructure. It will be its constant effort, to educate the population about healthcare, diseases and preventive methods. Its largest goal is, to make rural India self-sufficient, so that it can stand on its own feet.

For other net participants we can give an expert opinion, deliver a lecture and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
