Bhutan-Hilfe was founded in 1999 as a non-profit organization to support humanitarian, ecological and social projects in Bhutan. Helping people to help themselves is in the foreground in all projects.

Vision
Bhutan-Aid strives to implement projects that improve the standard of living and the quality of life of the people in Bhutan in the long term.

Mission
The projects implemented within the framework of international cooperation are based on developing the country's own resources and promoting the independence of the people in Bhutan. In addition, Bhutan-Hilfe always has an eye on bringing the project goals achieved into a socially recognized form via the local partners.

Since 2000, Bhutan-Hilfe has been initiating various projects, primarily in the areas of health and education, such as: building a hospital, training and further education for Bhutanese doctors, qualifying Bhutanese nursing staff and establishing a medical faculty in the capital Thimphu. In the past, Bhutan-Hilfe has also repeatedly supported smaller projects such as the construction of a drinking water supply in a monastery, reconstruction work after an earthquake and the Rural-Urban Friendship camp. Since 2015, Bhutan-Hilfe has further developed its activities and opened up new subject areas. In the past five years, projects in the areas of sustainable tourism, organic farming and related fields have been added.

Projects:
• Health & Education - Qualification of Bhutanese nurses: The stated goal of the government of Bhutan is to improve the training of workers in the medical sector, doctors and nurses. As part of the current project, up to 40 Bhutanese, certified nurses are to receive a work visa for five years of further training in Germany. During this period they will be fully integrated into the daily routine of the clinic, will be remunerated accordingly and further qualified. After completing the training, the Bhutanese nurses will return to their home country.
• Sustainable tourism - location development and training partnership: The declared goal of the government of Bhutan is the resource-saving expansion of tourism and the generation of a sustainable income model for the population while at the same time preserving and preserving biodiversity and natural wealth.
• Organic farming - "Soil Quality Offensive": The stated goal of the government of Bhutan is to increase the productivity of the limited land resources and the standard of living of the agricultural and livestock population, while at the same time improving soil fertility and soil biological activity. As part of the "Soil Quality Offensive", current cooperation projects with the Research & Development Centre for Organic Agriculture and the College of Natural Resources are bringing the importance of soil to the attention of those involved. The focus is on the technology, knowledge and know-how transfer.
• Water pumps for Bhutan: As part of the current project, fossil fuel independent water pumping systems based on the hydraulic ram (pressure surge technology) and the solar-powered direct pump are being installed at three selected locations.
• Road to Happiness: The Road to Happiness describes the accompanied journey of a fire engine of the type Mercedes 1524 / DLK 23/12 sponsored by the state of Baden-Württemberg - travelling to the Kingdom of Bhutan. The aim of this trip is to bring Bhutan and its unique social model closer to a wider public and to reflect on it, as well as to deepen friendships and initiate cooperation projects.
• Camp Rural-Urban Friendship: Camp RUF was started by the teacher Tenzin Dorji and his late wife Kelzang Chhoden. Every year since 2014, the RUF camp has brought children and young people from rural and urban areas together in one place. The common experience of the "other", the exchange of experiences, the assumption of responsibility for oneself and others, leads to compassion and empathy
