About us

The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force (ZCTF) was formed in 2001 by a group of Zimbabweans, who were desperately concerned about the unacceptable levels of poaching as well as the destruction of the environment due to the break down of law and order in Zimbabwe. The wildlife there has been slaughtered at an alarming rate. ZCTF estimates it has already lost over 60% of its beautiful animals to poachers and illegal hunters. Its wildlife areas are riddled with wire snares and it raises money to go into the bush, tranquilize the animals, remove the snares and treat the wounds. It also relocates animals under siege to safer areas. The ZCTF is extremely concerned about the fact, that hunting continues in Zimbabwe regardless of the reduced wildlife population. Since the land invasions began, the wildlife has been slaughtered indiscriminately at an alarming rate and it seems incredible, that hunting quotas are still being issued even though it is not known how many animals are left here.

ZCTF mission is, to work together with all sectors of society to promote and ensure the sustainability of its fish and wildlife resources for current and future generations.

Objectives:

- to assist National Parks with anti poaching operations with regard to wildlife and aquatic life,
- to raise funds to assist in the rescue and treatment of animals caught in snares,
- to assist in the relocation of wildlife to safer areas,
- to create awareness with regard to the dangers of wantonly destroying the environment.

Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force (ZCTF) is participant of the Wildlife, Habitat, Environment Protection and Community Integration Action. The concern is the immediate curtailment of mismanagement, decimation and degradation of Zimbabwe's valuable wildlife, natural habitats, sensitive environments, dependent sociological structures and extensive economic needs, through the introduction of effective management systems across biologically and geographically sensitive locations in Zimbabwe.

Johnny Rodrigues is the chairman of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force.
