Sobre nosotros

Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT) is a registered charity and one of the leading youth entrepreneurship organizations in the Caribbean. Based in Barbados, it was started 1996 by a group of local, social entrepreneurs, all private sector businessmen, who, due to an alarming increase in youth unemployment, saw the need to introduce young persons to an alternative career choice. The Trust provides the much needed service of turning good ideas into good business and the program is open to those aged between 18 - 35. Physically challenged applicants with good business ideas are especially encouraged to let the Trust help them, to make their dream become a reality. BYBT objectives are:

- to foster the concept of self-employment and the spirit of enterprise in the nation's youth,
- to introduce young entrepreneurs to sources of business expertise through an advisory network,
- to extend financial assistance, directly or indirectly, to young entrepreneurs,
- to complement other youth programs sponsored by private/public sector institutions,
- to offer direction to those better suited to employment.

BYBT offers a coordinated and comprehensive program, that assists young people to develop necessary skills and attitudes, that they need to become successful entrepreneurs, step one. Step two is it's loan program, a private sector initiative made possible by partnership with the voluntary sector. The Trust provides business start-up and developmental loans, business and personal mentoring along with advisory and marketing support services, in order to encourage and nurture a new generation of Barbadians in business. The affairs of the Barbados Youth Business Trust are managed by Trustees, whose number is not less than three or more than seven. They hold office for an initial period of three years. The principal role of the Executive Council is to undertake the work of the Trustees between meetings, providing support and guidance to the manager. The Trust's daily business is administered through the office of the manager. It is the center where young people are received, their needs processed, loans disbursed and progress monitored and where all the various facets of the program are coordinated.

Mrs. Marcia Brandon is the general manager of the Trust.
