Qui sommes-nous

All Ears Cambodia (AEC) is a local NGO established for the relief of persons with ear disease and deafness and the preservation and protection of hearing in Cambodia. It has been operational for over 20 years and has an MOU with the Cambodian Ministry of Health.

It currently has 5 clinics across the country and works in partnership with over 80 aid organizations and a number of state hospitals. Focus is on the weakest and hardest hit. Annual patient caseload: >29,000. Service provision includes: a) Primary ear health care; b) Diagnostic audiology; c) Rehabilitative audiology; d) Ear mould manufacture; e) Primary ear health education. AEC also created the AEC School of Audiology and Primary Ear Health Care to address the paucity of specialists in the field of ear and hearing health care. It has an active Continuing Professional Development program for its trained staff.

The medical work often revolves around ear infections, especially in children. The team meets international standards, treating disease using appropriate examination and therapeutic techniques. For those without infection but unable to hear well, the clinics offer a range of diagnostic services from basic hearing tests to specialized ones such as those needed for infants. AEC provides a comprehensive range of hearing aids for its patients’ needs. It has a fully equipped ear mould laboratory and hearing aid repair service at each site. There is considerable drive at AEC to restore hearing in children to counter the effects of hearing loss on speech and language acquisition as well as cognitive development and so provide greater parity in education, psychological well-being and better quality of life. There is equal drive for early intervention – to identify hearing loss and fit hearing aids at the earliest possible stage.

AEC is federated with All Ears International (AEI), a UK-registered charity (No: 1142782) whose aims are the relief of persons with ear disease or hearing impairment and the preservation and protection of hearing by promoting activities for prevention, mitigation or relief of avoidable causes of ear disease and deafness, and for the conservation of hearing. AEI currently supports programs in Cambodia and North Korea. It has also acted in an advisory capacity for programs in the Lao PDR, Myanmar and Bhutan.

Glyn Vaughan is the Director of All Ears Cambodia (AEC).
