About us

Chez Alpha Books and English Language Training is a non-profit organization, that was developed to provide books in English along with academic and cultural programs in English. It offers a library loan program for students and adults of all ages, along with a limited selection of new books for sale. It also offers English language training for adults and children, academic advisement for students searching for a university, conversation groups, lectures, discussions and movie clubs.

It is a small space more on a grass roots style, having been in existence since 2002. Its language programs offer the traditional grammar, vocal, listening and reading comprehension, etc.

Its English language programs for children and adults includes people, who are college educated and want to improve their English along with adults, who are not literated and need English for educational or professional opportunities. It has presented programs for children using both English and Arabic or English and Wolof.
The organization emphasizes cross cultural communication believing, it is essential to understand the people who speak the language.

Chez Alpha Books is interested in creating a new child safety program. It has defied the belief, that Africans don't read merely by the fact, that it still exists and is growing slowly but surely. Its library loan now has over 75 members and it collaborates with two schools and wants to work with more.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, deliver a lecture, procure an expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work. Further we can offer cross cultural communication, African literature, films, music, visual arts, etc. and orientation and travel programs within Senegal.
