The centre community of Balninkai

About us

The centre community of Balninkai was established on April 19, 2001 by nineteen villagers from Balninkai, encouraged by the National Center of the Civic Initiative "Development of Rural Community Organization in Salcininkai and Moletai Counties," decided to establish a community organization.

Its vision is of inhabitants of Balninkai taking initiative, working hand-in-hand with governmental, private, and faith based organizations, to protect and expand our cultural heritage and community.

The centre is working in two directions: creating and strengthening its community centre and sharing own's experience. Its direction is to help for people in its community, to create work places, to share one's experience. The centre is leader in the district of Moletai. There are 23 community centres in its association district of Moletai.

There are several nice empty buildings in its community. It got small grant from Netherlands fond and want to prepare one building for rest organization of blind because there are very suitable lake for them.

The centre is working together with sociologists of the University of Vilnius. It wants to have the centre for share its experience and experience of democracy from world. It has many guests from Lithuania and from other countries. The centre loves the rich culture and has small gallery of glass, graphic works and art and of culture. The centre is working with the youth. The centre is looking for partners who are interested:

- and would like to cooperate in activities promoting ethno-cultural heritage and traditions of Eastern Lithuania,
- and able to facilitate rural small business development (ecological farming, rural tourism),
- in creatively engaging teenagers and young adults.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, deliver a lecture, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
