Sobre nosotros

German Doctors – our name says it all: We are an international non-governmental organization that sends doctors to work on projects unpaid.
Aims
German Doctors sends doctors to eight projects in the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Sierra Leone. The projects are supported by two to eight doctors at each site, in addition, dental practitioners are used on the Philippine island of Mindoro.

Our work
• We are committed to a life of dignity and we attend to the health care and education of disadvantaged people in our operational regions. Through preventative measures such as accompanying nutritional programs or hygiene training, we also strive to improve the health of our patients in the long term.
• We are guided by the definition of health by the World Health Organization (WHO), which understands health as a state of complete, physical, mental and social well-being. German Doctors offers basic medical care and is committed to the prevention of diseases. We tackle poverty diseases such as tuberculosis or tropical diseases like malaria. Because we understand health holistically, we strengthen patients' potential, for example by training them. Furthermore, German Doctors is involved in pharmaceutical-medical consulting, for example in the quality assurance of medical products.
• German Doctors works together with partner organizations so that our work is embedded in the local structures. Thus we can rely on our established network of reliable and dedicated partner organizations.
• Our partners and local staff build a bridge to the patients, because they speak their language and - often coming from humble backgrounds - know their living conditions and culture well. We regard the further training of our employees as a contribution to the development of our countries of operation. For German Doctors, partnership with the patients is also valuable. That is why the doctors live in their patients' living areas during their assignment.
• German Doctors currently supports 50 partner projects in the fields of education, agriculture and the environment, health, credit programs, disaster relief, social work and community development in 16 countries through financial contributions or through medical shipments.

Florian Rühmann manages the online fundraising for German Doctors and is responsible for the website as well as our digital communication.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
