About us

The Foundation JAM (Joint Aid Management) Switzerland, founded in 2006, is a Christian-humanitarian development organization with the aim of supporting Africa in its development into an economically healthy, independent region. We support people regardless of their ethnic, religious or political background or gender. JAM Switzerland is a partner of the South African aid and development organization JAM International, founded in 1984 by Africans.

JAM Switzerland is a unique organization, which as a non-profit company takes responsibility for people in Africa as partners in order to help people to help themselves sustainably through entrepreneurial action.

Our three features:
• True partnerships
• Holistic development model
• Entrepreneurial action

Our work:
At the heart of our daily work and passion is helping children, their families and villages in southern Africa to help themselves. Our holistic development aid includes:
• School nutrition: More than every second child in Angola is chronically undernourished. We tackle the hunger of over 6,000 children in 23 schools and thus support their education. For just 7.50 francs per month, a child receives the life-saving JAM porridge on every school day.
• Well construction: only 42% of the population in Angola has access to vital drinking water. We drill deepwater wells, install hand pumps, train the villagers in dealing with water and sanitation, and set up a local water committee.
• Agriculture: local farmers are trained on 1,500 hectares of land in Mozambique, and plants are grown both for school-children's nutrition and for sale. JAM also helps local farmers sell their products.
• Operations in Africa: teams of volunteers from Switzerland raise money to rebuild day care centres in South Africa or renovate schools in Mozambique. With this we support the commitment of the locals and create a child-friendly playing and learning environment
• Disaster Relief: JAM has been working in South Sudan for 15 years. In the face of the ongoing crisis, JAM International is working with UNICEF to address the escalating food situation in Pibor, southern Sudan.

Nelli Sattler is the director of JAM (Joint Aid Management) Switzerland

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
