About us

SID Hamburg e.V. is a non-profit association, founded in 1992, that combines development policy practice with politics, society, economy, science and culture. SID Hamburg is the North German chapter of the worldwide network of SID, which has been active since 1957.

SID provides a platform for international dialogue and cooperation and provides an impetus for questions of international development. SID acts as a global space for dialogue and networking among the various groups involved. SID is committed to equitable, participatory, peaceful and sustainable human development worldwide and is actively involved in the discussion of global issues of the future.
In Northern Germany, SID strengthens the exchange of knowledge related to questions of global development and promotes political change towards integrity, justice and sustainability.

The Society for International Development Hamburg is a non-profit organization working in the areas of
• the exchange of experience and information
• cooperation between research and practice
• education and publication
• enabling the interests of developing countries to be represented in northern Germany

Activities:
• Providing regular information on development policy activities
• Topics and open discussion groups from the members' area
• Lectures and discussions with external speakers
• Public events on individual development policy topics

Dr. Juliane Petersen is the President of SID Hamburg.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
