About us

Stars and Rain is the first non-governmental, educational organization to serve children with autism and their families, opening at a time, when support for this field was almost non-existent.

When Stars and Rain opened in 1993, there were only three doctors in China, who were qualified to diagnose autism. There were no educational organizations, including public schools and academic institutions, providing services to children with, or information about, autism. Facing a situation where there was very little assistance for children and families, the founder of Stars and Rain (a parent of a child with autism) and its staff worked to develop an educational model, that would be most effective and useful for families and children.

Actively seeking information about autism and teaching methods, Stars and Rain began to develop its current model of intervention, using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Through ongoing training, Stars and Rain has cultivated the first group of professional ABA teachers, serving over 1000 children and parents since 1993. Specifically Stars and Rain has established a parent training model, in which parents from across the country are trained in a 3-month course to provide ABA intervention to their children. This type of model is essential in China, because there are no services for these families upon their return to their home areas and thus parents must teach their children themselves.

Its vision is to help people with autism reach their full potential, improve their quality of life and enjoy equal.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Further we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, procure an expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
