About us

Nature Conservation Project - a future for animals is an association recognized by the Bergheim Inland Revenue Office as a non-profit organization, which finances itself exclusively by the private means of the operators, as well as donations, sponsorships and the contributions of the funding members.
One purpose of the association is the promotion of the facilities on the Quinta Eanna, a 180 year old farm set in 20 hectares of its own land. The Quinta is in private ownership and has been made available to our organisation free of charge and for an unlimited period of time. Quinta's facilities are run by a Portuguese association, which is also recognized as a non-profit organization by the financial administration and has the necessary operating licenses for the facility.

The ultimate goal of our project is to save lives, to alleviate misery, and to enable animals to be treated properly.
Each animal gets a chance here. With love and with the high professional competence of our team of doctors, we also operate on, treat and rehabilitate seemingly hopeless cases successfully.
Mistreated animals experience peace and harmony through socialization with their peers. After their recovery, they live in our free pack on 10 hectares of forest and scrubland.

Keeping dogs freely together as a pack, with no kennels or cages, is the basis of our method. This structure also allows us to receive new stray dogs at any time. In addition, we are always looking for sponsors for the individual dogs. Sponsors help to secure the life of an animal financially.
We accommodate and care for an average of 60 to 70 dogs, all of them would have died if we had not taken them in.

Our goals and our commitment are:
• the admission, treatment, therapy and permanent accommodation of seriously ill and / or injured animals with a focus on street dogs, street cats, as well as tortured horses and donkeys.
• the operation of a physiotherapy facility for dogs with neurological and orthopedic damage due to ill-treatment and / or accident, in the postoperative period.
• the operation and organization of a nursing and rehabilitation facility for organically ill dogs, cats and horses, as well as aged animals.
• the accommodation of dogs, cats and horses in a natural, biotope-like and appropriate accommodation without kennels or small enclosures. For dogs, this means letting the pack roam on the 10 hectare grounds of the Quinta, as well as keeping horses as a herd and letting cats have freedom of choice.
• support for needy, socially vulnerable families and those living under the poverty line who keep animals. This involves giving medical advice, offering regular vaccination, castration and support in the procurement of animal food.
• the systematic education of the public on how to contain the uncontrolled proliferation of dogs and cats. We provide castration according to best medical practice.
• In cooperation with the Veterinary Office, castration, medical care and feeding of wild cat colonies as well as free-living street dogs, to prevent them being killed.
• the sensitization of the population, especially children and adolescents, encouraging them to handle nature and animals consciously and mindfully. In addition, we publish printed materials and also organise events in schools and in the institution itself.
• the support of non-profit organizations, also internationally, in complicated cases of distressed dogs and cats with neurological and / or orthopedic problems which are not treatable in situ, so that the animals are threatened with being put down.
