Sobre nosotros

The Uganda team was established in 1993 as a working group of the former Youth Training Centre of Witzenhausen in Germany. At that time the aim was to carry out an intercultural youth exchange with people from the town of Kayunga in Uganda. At that time there were eleven of us in Witzenhausen who wanted to take on this project. On Sunday, March 11, 2001, the "Uganda team" and the "Friends of the Witzenhausen-Kayunga partnership" founded a non-profit organisation and since then we have been the "Uganda team",
We have set ourselves clear goals and an active partnership has developed between Witzenhausen and Kayunga. Since then, no year has passed in which we have not visited Kayunga. At least once a month the team meets to work on specific projects or to develop new ideas. Over time, we have been able to establish a very good and trusting cooperative relationship
Thus, a coordination committee was formed in Kayunga and in Witzenhausen there is a twin town association, which has instituted a working group in Kayunga in addition to its three "old" twin towns.

The Uganda team found a partner in Uganda, the KCDA (Kayunga Community Development Association). This is an NGO founded by our local friends and with whom we can discuss and coordinate ideas and projects.
For what we do not want is a one-sided relationship with the Ugandans, but rather a lively togetherness. Our logo is intended to depict this - two cultures that permeate each other and meet at some places.

Our activities:
• Construction activities: youth centre in Kayunga; a Ugandan-style house in Witzenhausen; the Uganda Team Partnership building; Eye Centre; Market in Kayunga; Kayunga Technical Institute
• Presentations and events: art exhibitions; Ugandan house festival, regular get-togethers; Uganda Time; Round tables to develop the partnership
• Intercultural encounters: Weltwärts; cultural exchanges; travel for "multipliers"; official visits; private trips and internships
• Donations: small-scale projects; trucks for Kayunga; containers for donations in kind; hailstorm 2011; tree sponsorships
• Media productions: after every trip we want to put over our experiences to people in Witzenhausen and elsewhere. So we document our experiences and make them available to the public. Over the years there have been a great number of videos, DVDs and exhibitions. We also offer some of them for sale or rental. Some of our documentaries are used in schools and development facilities throughout Germany

Isabella Junker is the President of Uganda Team.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
