About us

The South Austria Animal Rescue Society is a volunteer animal protection organisation which helps feral cats and dogs in southern and eastern European countries.

Our work:
We organize and fund castration projects, provide veterinary care, food, better living conditions for the animals and much more. In addition, where possible we place the animals in foster homes or offer sponsorships for animals which cannot be placed.
• Our focus is on long-term, on-site assistance. One very important goal is to strengthen animal welfare awareness in the countries concerned, and so to act as a role model.
• We work in cooperation with the organisation “Animal Welfare Southern Germany”.
• We help where animals are considered insignificant.

Projects:
• BULGARIA Kazanlak: cooperation project with “Animal Welfare Southern Germany”- big castration campaign
• KOSOVO Pristina: negotiations with the relevant authorities (Ministry of Agriculture, Veterinary Agency, local authorities) on the abolition of the mass shooting of stray dogs; Organization of castration actions; Vaccination of castrated animals against rabies; etc
• Krk Croatia; Opatija Lovran: Support for local animal welfare groups
• Belgrade SERBIA: Help for a shelter threatened with closure
• TUNISIA Djerba: Since the summer of 2007 we have financed food, medicines, castrations.
• VENEZUELA Isla Margarita: Financial assistance for the care of stray animals
