About us

Village Care Development Foundation (VCDF), a not-for-profit civil society organization, was established in 2012 as an answer to a local communities’ pertinent but silent call to fill evident gaps in research, documentation and community mobilization for realistic social economic interventions’ implementation using the abundant human and natural resource potential for holistic transformation of the primary units of development; the peasant families.
The organization therefore started humbly by drawing a strategic intervention plan; prioritizing education, OVC support, Sanitation, environment and consensus building on a value system based on solidarity, sharing and faith in God.

Holistically transformed communities in respect of substantive social-economic advancement anchored on cherishing Christian values of sharing and faith in God.

The Mission of VCDF
Exploiting the natural resource and human potential to transform destitute Rural Households/Family Units from enclaves of a peasant economy that is synonymous with living below the extreme poverty line to: rural, vibrant and model enterprises.

Goals.
• Offer OVC Care specifically in welfare and the Priority Area (PA) of “Education and Development” thus, providing tuition and other related educational logistics to orphans and critically vulnerable children of school going age (4-17 years)
• To empower families of “Index OVC” to earn a decent living (Skilling and establishment of Income generating activities at family level i.e. micro enterprises in line with the strengths of individual families
• To cause counseling and conflict resolution, subsequently, fostering torn families unification mindful of the fact that the biological familyis the best place for a child.
• Network for community holistic transformation

Our work:
• Supporting OVC specifically in the OVC Care Priority Area of Education & Development plus their welfare and medical care.
• Established a Uganda Christian Based Nursery and Primary school strictly to give a chance to OVC to get an opportunity for formal education in nursery and primary.
• For two consecutive years after COVID-19 lock down, supporting at least a dozen girls and boys in secondary school with 100% tuition offers.
• Establishing and growing micro-enterprises for half of the Index OVC’s kinship or foster families for sustainable tuition access.
• Agricultural Support: Supporting farmers by donating to them spraying cans to help them prevent and control crop pests and diseases.
• Piggery project: Providing Pigs to farmers and training them on how to shelter, feed and the possible methods of prevention and Control of their Diseases have really yielded better results.
• Campaign on sensitizing the masses about the climatic and economic benefits of tree planting in societies,
