Qui sommes-nous

Driven by their own experiences in the German education system as children of Turkish guest workers, strengthened by their successful educational paths at university and convinced of the need for help and support, the siblings Şerife Vural-Banik and Murat Vural founded Chancenwerk e.V. (Opportunity Knocks) in 2004. Being a social enterprise with many years of experience and a track record of success, we can have a lasting influence on educational equality in Germany through financial support.
What we do
• Events: The Chancenwerk e.V. team travels around a lot. Whether at campus and career fairs, on networking and recruiting days or at our own series of events, we want to inspire people for our work and raise awareness of topics in the educational sector.
• Learning Cascade: The Learning Cascade system is not classic tutoring, but a learning support concept we have developed, and which our educational association establishes in our partner schools: Students are supported in their learning and can then themselves become learning role models by helping younger classmates. We trust older students to oversee a group of younger ones and to support classmates with their school work under the guidance of students. For that, the older students themselves receive a free intensive course from students in a (problem) subject. Thus they “pay” with knowledge and time, not with money. We are able to offer younger children learning support very cost-effectively, as there are many funding partners such as foundations, companies and private individuals who subsidize us. The families of the younger children pay a small membership fee or are supported by the education and participation package.
• Chance Campus: The opportunity campus is our own digital learning platform and supports students’ learning. It complements our learning offerings and offers the advantages of digital learning.
• Chance School: With the opportunity schools, we offer educationally valuable and non-profit learning support for all students. This learning support is not coupled with a particular cooperation school, so that any interested children and young people can take part, regardless of which school they attend, what language level they have or what financial resources they have available to them.
• Chance Digital School: Digital learning is supported nationwide and regardless of school type or place of residence. Our Chance Digital Schools are located in Castrop-Rauxel, Dortmund and Hannover.
• Chance Academy: The Chance Academy is our own training program. Since Spring 2022 this has been dedicated to the holistic support of children and young people and the (further) educational qualification of volunteer training leaders and permanent employees. We run our own workshops and also work with external partners. For their later CVs, students receive written confirmation of participation in the workshop.
• Chance Family: Chance Family is our parent education project with which we support families at home. Our team can be reached by phone or app and provides many offers.
• Chance Booklets: We create our own learning materials for students, with which focus on the different needs of each child and young person individually. Currently there are
opportunity booklets in the subjects German, maths, English, science, biology and chemistry for primary and secondary schools.
• Evaluation: For the regular analysis of the quality and impact of our programs, Opportunity Knocks has developed an internal evaluation system that has proved its worth over several years. Our evaluation system consists of regular monitoring and measurement.

Dr. Kirstin Wingler is the assistant to the executive chairman of Chancenwerk e.V. (Opportunity Knocks).

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
