Sobre nosotros

“Welcome to Löbtau” is a predominantly voluntary association in the west of Dresden by and for Dresden residents. It developed from an initially loose neighbourhood network of committed citizens, parishes, clubs and groups around the Löbtau district. Starting in 2014, they created offers for people who have fled their countries and are seeking protection with us. The aim of the association's founding in 2017 was to strengthen the structures in the long term, and to make our work more sustainable and expand our sphere of influence.

Our goal is to welcome people with refugee or migration experience, to support them in their process of arrival and their integration efforts, and to take decisive action against any form of exclusion.

What we do
• With our work we want to make it possible for people in Dresden, with and without a migration history, to get to know each other and to promote mutual understanding. At the same time, we want to strengthen the neighbourhood in Dresden-West. For this purpose, we have developed various opportunities for encounters, ranging from sharing a meal to opportunities for cultural exchange through joint activities and projects. An exchange and cooperation on an equal level is important to us. Someone’s origin should have no influence on the opportunities for participation or co-determination in all of our activities.
• In society too, we want everyone to have the same opportunities to get involved and have a say. On the one hand, we promote this ideal in society and want to help eliminate obstacles that stand in the way. On the other hand, we would like to point out marginalized groups in our society - in our case primarily people with refugee and migration experience - to existing opportunities for participation and ensure that they are taken advantage of.
• Since the greatest possible participation and a self-determined life entail certain requirements in our society, we also offer knowledge transfer and integration support. We offer support for language acquisition and integration into the labour market. These offerings are becoming increasingly specified and expanded.

Offers for everyone:
• International evening of the AG Encounter: The focus of the event is on establishing and maintaining social contacts. Here, newcomers meet long-established Dresden residents, refugees meet their new neighbours and international students meet culture-interested locals. Over a game of table tennis, table football or UNO, the international guests can exchange ideas, laugh with each other and improve their German skills at the same time. The special treat of Encounter International is the shared meal. Everyone brings a little something with them, which is then eaten together.
• Open football meeting of AG Football
• Community garden of the AG Community Garden
• Open sewing workshop and family meeting of the sewing workshop group
• AG Bicycle bicycle workshop
Offers for refugees and migrants:
• Language workshop of the AG Language: The learners are supported by committed volunteers. Teaching material for different language levels is available. The support depends on the wishes and needs of the learners, be it with written homework, oral communication, communication with authorities, application letters or training for job interviews.
Our training and work group has the following offers ready for them:
• Sponsorship program: Finding training or work is easier when you have someone at your side. We bring together people with a refugee or migration history who want to prepare for the German job market with people who would like to accompany them on this path.
• Interact4Work project: The project mainly provides full-time support in the search for work or training. Depending on availability, we offer (job-specific) support from volunteers. In addition, information on the topic of “labour market integration” is made transparent through outreach consultations and various events.
• Tutoring meeting: The tutoring meeting offers individual tutoring for people with a refugee or migration history who are completing training.

On request we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation, and provide current specialist information and contacts in the area of our work.
