Sobre nosotros

The MARIPHILaid project was founded in 2001 and consists of committed members from a wide variety of professional groups - united in the conviction that we have to do more for those whose prospects and opportunities are much worse than ours. The MARIPHIL aid project was originally created through the private initiative of the current board member, Martin Riester, who ran it alone for the first few years. However, in order to be able to cope with the diverse tasks in the long term, the support of like-minded people was essential. This is how the Association of Friends of the Aid Project MARIPHIL came into being. It was renamed the Aid Project MARIPHIL in 2010, with a corresponding name change in the statutes.

The MARIPHIL aid project is committed to improving the economic, social and health conditions of the poor population in the project area in the Philippines through various sustainable measures and projects. We always act in accordance with the principle of “helping people to help themselves”. The focus is on supporting the education of children and adults in order to enable them to escape the cycle of poverty in the long term and to strengthen local structures.

Projects:
• Mariphil Children's Village: The children's village currently offers around 50 former street children, and other children in need, a sheltered childhood with a caring house- mother as a permanent caregiver. Together with a team of psychologists, social workers and volunteers, she ensures that children who have been neglected, rejected and abused can find stability and trust again.
• Health insurance and emergency care: A large proportion of families in the Philippines have poor access to medical care and have to pay for medication and treatments out of their own pockets. The vast majority of people have no social health insurance and cases of illness are often fatal.
• Sponsorships: We offer several forms of sponsorship for our supporters. If you would like to support the MARIPHIL aid project regularly and over a longer period of time, you can do so through a sponsorship. By sponsoring a school, you enable a needy child to receive an education. You can also become a sponsor of a specific project and support it financially.
• Rice Sack Campaign: Countless families in the Philippines have too little income to satisfy their hunger due to a lack of, or only temporary, employment opportunities. In the project area of the MARIPHIL relief project, many families also suffer from poverty and hunger during the Christmas season. MARIPHIL has set itself the goal of enabling many poor families to have a hunger-free Christmas and distributes rice to people in need.
• 100,000 trees against climate change: MARIPHIL acquires land in the Philippines and plants it with mixed forests made up of 10 – 20 typical tree species. Through the most careful management possible and with the involvement of the local population, we would like to generate long-term income for the MARIPHIL projects on site, such as the children's village and the school, health or social projects.

On request we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation, and provide current specialist information and contacts in the area of our work.
