About us

Horses Helping Humans (HHH) is a locally registered NGO, founded in 2012 by Karen Stollmeyer and her husband Ernie Matthews and located at Anam Cara Stables in the beautiful and historic valley of Maracas, St.Joseph, that provides Hippo therapy, or Therapeutic Horseback Riding to children with autism and other special needs.
We also provide Equine Facilitated Therapy to people who are suffering with stress, anxiety or depression.
Hippo therapy and Animal Assisted Therapy can be very effective for improving the communications skills of children with autism and other special needs, and can provide many other benefits, including improved core muscle strength, balance, and coordination, and improved social skill development in all children.
Equine Facilitated Therapy has also been proven to reduce stress and anxiety and depression in both children and adults.
HHH also offers Natural Horsemanship Riding Lessons and Horse and Pony Experiences for anyone who would like to experience the healing and therapeutic power of being with horses.

Sponsor a Child Program: HHH is a locally registered NGO that aims to provide free or subsidized Hippotherapy to children whose families cannot afford it on their own.
Adopt a horse: Monthly contributions towards the upkeep and maintenance of the horse of your choice for a commitment of one year.

Karen Stollmeyer is the Co-Founder and President of Horses Helping Humans (HHH).
