What we do:
• Our school: Suku Yeye's school has six classes. From CP1 (Preparatory Course 1st year) to CM2 (Middle Course 2nd year). The last class CM2 very important, because it is at this stage that the student passes the first state examination, the CEPD (Certificate of studies of the First Cycle) at the end of the school year to enter college. For the 2018-2019 school year, 103 children are enrolled in primary school. Registration is free, as is participation in vacation courses. Tuition fees are set at 25,000 CFA francs, or about 38 euros per year, payable in several installments. The school has made available to parents at a reasonable price the fabrics for making the students' uniforms.
• Our kindergarten: We were able to open a kindergarten for all the children who were not yet eligible for school. Today, 23 children aged 2 to 5 attend this kindergarten. Unfortunately, we have to separate the younger children from the older ones, because the younger children disturb or distract the older ones who have to learn to read or write. To better remedy this problem, we are thinking of opening a crèche.
• The school canteen: The school lacks a school canteen. The children are forced to take their meals outside in the sun and in the dust. It is well known: only a child in good physical health can also develop well intellectually. This is why it is so important to provide children with a healthy meal in an appropriate environment. For the construction of a temporary school canteen with adequate equipment, we need about 3600 €.
• Computers for everyone!!!: Today, the computer is still an invention that many Togolese have not seen or touched so far. In several schools in Togo where academic training is still precarious, a computer or laptop or even a smartphone brings joy to a student or teachers and motivates them.
• Donation of school supplies: We have decided in collaboration with our german partner association Suku yeye – Togo Schulprojekt e.V. to make available to the pupils of the public primary school of Akpakpakpé in Haho a set of 500 notebooks as well as a thousand pens, pencils, erasers, etc.
