About us

Our association - Intercultural Education Center “Universum” (IBU) - was founded in 2019 with the aim of conveying the culture and values that form the foundation of German society, and of helping people that are new to Germany with all vital issues.

Goal and purpose of the association:
• The promotion of youth and elderly care;
• the promotion of nature conservation and landscape management within the meaning of the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the nature conservation laws of the federal states, environmental protection, including climate protection, coastal protection and flood protection;
• the promotion of help for those persecuted politically, racially or religiously, for refugees, displaced persons, emigrants, late resettlers, war victims, dependents of war, war disabled and prisoners of war, civilian disabled and disabled as well as help for victims of crime;
• The promotion of the memory of the persecuted, war and disaster victims;
• The promotion of the tracing service for missing persons;
• The promotion of help for people who are discriminated against because of their gender identity or their gender orientation;
• The promotion of art and culture.

Our motto is moral, social and legal support for both our members and their families. As a result, we provide targeted offers and programs: we combat everyday racism and discrimination; we offer help for migrants and refugees; we support culture and sport; we encourage environmental protection; we promote the development of children and young people, we help the creative development of disabled people, especially children and young people.

Missions:
• Migration and refugees: Promotion of the members' language skills (organization of language cafes, readings and reading clubs); Counselling for migrants and refugees in relation to everyday life and professional issues; Help and support for migrants and refugees when dealing with authorities; Organization of information events and exhibitions on various topics; Homework assistance for school children in community accommodation; tutoring offers; Support for pregnant women, young mothers and newborns, because their life is particularly difficult and every baby should have a good start in life.
• Discrimination and racism: Discrimination is a gross violation of human rights. People who are discriminated against are systematically prevented from exercising their human rights because of individual or group-specific characteristics.
• Children are our future: development of children's creativity: organization of competitions on various topics, organization of sports competitions and cultural programs; psychological and moral support for children; fight against violence against children; Promotion of environmental awareness among children: organization of excursions, visits to zoos; The most comprehensive protection possible for children and young people from neglect, abuse and the use of violence; awareness-raising activities with regard to children's health.
• Healthy youth means a healthy society: improving and developing young people's knowledge and skills; Scientific and cultural discussions among young people; Awareness-raising activities with regard to harmful influences and habits; Promotion of information campaigns and pilot projects for the general public, especially for children and young people; The promotion of healthy living; Social, moral, psychological support; organization of sports competitions; Youth and youth social work for the integration of young refugees
• The family is a small state: help for families in need; family counselling for families in difficult situations; Moral, psychological and legal help and support to prevent and resolve family conflicts; Practical help with social matters and with registering in kindergartens and schools.
• Respect for the elderly is an example of humanity: recognizing the needs of the elderly and supporting them morally and psychologically; Assistance and care in everyday life and help with official matters and driving services; Arranging entertainment programs for seniors; organization of excursions;

Activities:
• Protect nature, live healthily: Extensive propaganda and organization of public events to protect nature and the environment; especially among refugees and migrants; organization of educational events for children who learn to love nature from an early age; drawing and essay competitions among children; organization of conferences, seminars and discussions on environmental protection; organization of important awareness campaigns on environmental protection; publication and distribution of free information brochures on environmental protection in various languages; Production and distribution of a short documentary on reducing environmental damage; Education about waste separation
• A healthy mind in a healthy body: organization of competitions in various sports; promoting sporting activities among children; Discovery and promotion of talented young people; Organization and promotion of sporting activities and events in exercise, ball and mental sports, in particular the promotion of chess and sudo games.
• Culture: seminars, conferences and public debates in the field of culture; Promoting knowledge and understanding of the other culture through information, encounters and joint social commitment; Organization of charity concerts, promotion of mutual cultural understanding through support, promotion and own initiatives in the fields of education, art, music, literature, theatre, leisure activities and public relations; Concerts and performances reflecting the culture of different nations, separate dance classes for the children.
