Qui sommes-nous

The Youth organization STAN is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that utilizes grassroots methods of informal education, emphasizing local initiatives and active citizenship, with a particular focus on vulnerable and marginalized groups. Driven by the core values of freedom, respect for human dignity, mutual assistance, and diversity of cultures and mindsets, the team of “STAN” strives to build up an open and peaceful civil society in Ukraine. This work is only possible when there are democratic governance and a culture of human rights.
Founded at the end of 1990s, the organisation grew alongside the young state of Ukraine: it stood up for Ukraine’s democracy and freedom during two revolutions (in 2004 and again in 2014), but became internally displaced with the start of the war in Donbas. The organization was forced to move across the country and re-establish itself in Ivano-Frankivsk

Mission:
To develop a creative civil society in Ukraine at a grass-roots level by organizing and supporting cultural, educational, social, and human rights initiatives.

Vision:
A democratic Ukraine with a diverse, thriving and sustainable civil society that supports its own cultural, educational, social and human rights initiatives.

The strategic goals of the organization are:
• STAN – Agent of Changes: To strengthen and develop institutional abilities of the organization in order to become an independent agent of changes and youth outpost of Human Rights in the region;
• Support people in need and protect human rights: Responding to human rights violations, hate speech, and hate crimes, showing solidarity with people in Ukraine and other countries;
• Celebrate diversity and encourage young people: Celebrating diversity, promoting peace, intercultural dialogue, and strengthening people-to-people contacts. Supporting young activists and volunteers through increasing meaningful youth participation and development of leadership and entrepreneurship skills among young people.

What we do
• Today “STAN” is a community of young professionals working in the spheres of peacebuilding, education, culture, human rights, and media.
• From the first days of the russian invasion of Ukraine CSO organized welcome points and shelters forinternally displaced persons and supports people in need with psychosocial andlegal support, cash granting, food, and hygienic items. The organization “STAN”created a network of shelters in the Carpathian region and became an influentialplayer in UN humanitarian aid clusters on the regional level.
