About us

The goal of “Future for Elephants e.V.”, founded in 2017, is to protect and conserve elephants and their habitats worldwide in cooperation with "Boots on the Ground" projects on the ground.
Future for Elephants e.V. gives the threatened gray giants a voice. With public relations and press work as well as on social media, we create awareness for the dramatic situation of the elephants.

Our goals are:
• the peaceful coexistence between humans and elephants
• the conservation and expansion of protected areas and habitats
• the end of poaching and the end of the ivory trade
• the end of trophy hunting and the ban on importing hunting trophies

We pursue these goals through differentiated campaigns that target politics and legislation. Educating the (local) population as well as exerting political influence in Germany, Europe and worldwide are vital steps to protect elephants. National ivory markets must be shut down for good. We are lobbying to achieve an international ban on ivory sales and also the Import ban on hunting trophies to Germany and Europe. To make this happen we are cooperating with interest groups, writing open letters, setting up petitions and launching discussions with decision makers.
Animal, nature and species protection organizations as well as elephant experts all over the world support us in our mission.
Future for Elephants e.V. supports selected, successful elephant conservation projects in Africa and Asia. We attach great importance to the fact that the local population is involved. We are in constant contact with our partners on the ground and thus monitor the success of the donations we use.

Projects:
• Kenya – BIG LIFE Foundation:
Elephant protection through patrols, monitoring, anti-poaching measures and solutions in the human-elephant conflict in the Amboseli ecosystem - Future For Elephants supports the dog unit with a sponsorship program.
• Kenya - Elephant Aware Masai Mara:
Elephant protection through patrols, monitoring, anti-poaching measures and solutions in the human-elephant conflict in Siana/Masai Mara - Future for Elephants supports the Elephant Aware rangers with equipment and spare parts for the jeep as well as the financing of ranger bases.
• Tanzania – Southern Tanzania Elephant Program:
Protecting elephants in the Ruaha/Rungwa ecosystem through patrols, monitoring, anti-poaching measures, human-elephant conflict resolution and corridor building. Future For Elephants supports flight monitoring.
• Zambia –Conservation South Luangwa:
CSL is committed to fight poaching and mitigating human-wildlife conflicts, as well as patrolling and monitoring in the South Luangwa Valley. Future For Elephants supports field patrols and anti-snaring patrols.
• Zambia – Chipemebele Wildlife Education Trust:
The NGO teaches with educational programs local school children and communities the value of wildlife and their environment. Future For Elephants supports the "Nature Nights" program.
• Zimbabwe – Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery:
In the elephant orphanage ZEN orphaned elephant babies are raised and later released into the wild. In cooperation with ZEN we have started our „Care for Elephants“-program, a sponsorship program for the orphaned babyelephants.
• Liberia - Elephant Research and Conservation:
Elreco conducts research and develops protective measures for the forest elephants in Liberia and the neighboring countries. Future for Elephants is the main sponsor of the rehabilitation and release project for a rescued forest elephant baby.
• Dem. Republic of the Congo – ConservCongo:
The NGO does important work with undercover investigations and detection of ivory/bushmeat trade and wildlife crime, development of alternatives to poaching. Future For Elephants supports investigative work for ivory and bushmeat/elephant meat.
• India – Voice for Asian Elephants Society:
The organization is committed with various measures and educational work to find solutions to the human-elephant conflict, the creation of elephant corridors, the restoration of habitats and the improvement of the keeping conditions for temple elephants in Kerala.
• Thailand - Save Elephant Foundation and Elephant Nature Park:
Founded by Lek Chailert, the Save Elephant Foundation rescues protected working, riding, begging, zoo and show elephants and provides them with a life of relative freedom in appropriate sanctuaries. Future For Elephants supports the organization with a sponsorship program.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
