Sobre nosotros

Global New Generation Berlin e.V. was launched in January 2008 as a parent initiative and registered in 2009 as a non-profit association in the register of associations Charlottenburg/Berlin.
As parents of multi-ethnic children, we are confronted with racist-motivated prejudices and attacks in everyday life. Many of our children are Germans – they were born in Germany, they grow up here, visit the school here. Here are their friends, grandparents – in short: Germany is their home. Nevertheless, they are all regularly asked where they come from, how long they plan to stay in Germany, where they’ve learned the language from. Each of these children already makes their first experiences with racism in kindergarten.
The well-being and the future of our children depend crucially on the survival of our planet. For that, we need to be able to understand global relationships. We need the ability to question right and wrong. Our eyes have to be trained to see from different perspectives.
Sustainably, the soil on which our children grow must be strengthened.
And that is the purpose of the existence of our association.
• We create an environment where all children are unique and special.
• In which families and educators of all origins work together on the skills of our children and young people and their environment.
• We strengthen their self-confidence, give them the opportunity in our workshops to learn all the necessary tools to live well in a global world full of changes.

Activities:
• From idea to project: project development workshop
• Who the heck is Columbus?! – We have edited 5 children's songs from a colonial-critical perspective and retold the stories. With the support of parents, teachers, artists and interns, the participating children sang to self-made beats and even filmed three of the songs together.
• Unity Upgrade, Holiday Workshop: Filming Against Racism
• Afia in the recording studio: We record the children's radio play “Afia, as smart as a spider” (a story from Ghana). Learn dance steps
• Didactic materials: We are constantly developing new educational material on current topics and topics of sustainability, e.g. coloring books, games, audio plays and educational posters.
• Courses: GNGB offers courses for children and young people; Courses for people with an educational mandate and an interactive learning platform for all age groups
• Family Space is the club meeting point of the Global New Generation Berlin and is a child-friendly co-working space in which we work across generations. In Family Space, we treat each other with respect and sensitivity to discrimination, and we acquire the tools we need in a global world of change.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
