About us
The non-profit organization Lebensfreunde Togo (Joie de vivre Togo) supports needy orphans in Togo. Their living conditions are very poor, which is why we want to secure basic supplies through sponsorships.
Two of us (Lioba Meyers and Felice Hellweg) spent our voluntary social year until August 2013 in Atakpamé (Togo) in a project with orphans, and noticed the problems that occurred there. We worked there in the Jephte orphanage and school in the neighbouring village of Hihéatro. In the school and in the orphanage there was a massive lack of money to finance food and education.
We wanted to change that! That's why friends founded the association Lebensfreunde Togo in Germany during our time in Togo - on March 31, 2013. We have been supporting the children in Hihéatro for 7 years now.
We cooperate locally with the association ZOGBEADJI. A committee made up of three members of ZOGBEADI in Togo takes care, among other things, of shopping for food and ensures that the donations reach the orphans.

Our mission
We support our Togolese partners in improving the living conditions of children in Hihéatro and opening up career prospects.

Our vision
The children of Hihéatro should sleep well in the evening and wake up in the morning trusting in good future prospects.

Our projects
We support the children with two goals: We ensure their basic needs to end the emergency situation. With long-term and sustainable projects, we open up a perspective for zhem. We work closely and on an equal footing with our Togolese partners.
• Training projects: Older children in the orphanage get hope for the future through training. Aim and approach: After graduating from school, the young people at the Jephté orphanage complete vocational training that gives them the opportunity to become financially independent and gain a foothold in the official job market. We support them by choosing different apprenticeships and by cooperating with training companies in Atakpamé and Hihéatro.
• Sponsorships enable children to grow up with a host family. More orphans from Atakpamé and Hihéatro are placed with host families. As a result, fewer children are placed in the Jephté orphanage and the living conditions of the children are improved.
• Basic needs: We want to ensure the basic needs of the children in the Hihéatro orphanage: Twice a month our committee brings basic foodstuffs to the children...
• Joie de vivre Togo: Traditional Togolese tailoring and our training project: this is where the idea for our label “Joie de vivre Togo” came from: things that bring joy. From Togo – to take with you every day.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
