Qui sommes-nous

Kabira Community Development and Child support Organisation (KACODE) is a non-profit rural community based organisation (CBO) and was founded in January 2015.
The purpose of the organisation is to assist poor communities overcome poverty thus improving the welfare of the underprivileged children. And to date our organisation has supported and reached out to orphaned and HIV infected children, and HIV positive women within the rural communities of Kabira village, Namutunku Parish in Maanyi subcounty in Mityana district, Uganda.
KACODE is currently running HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support programs with a wide range of activities ranging from public awareness campaigns, training for at risk youths, education support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), and economic empowerment of widows/caregivers living with HIV/AIDS.

Objectives
• To improve on the communities’ standards of living economically and socially.
• To mobilize and sensitize the communities about the HIV/AIDS prevention and management.
• To fight poverty by encouraging members to establish Income Generating Activities (IGAs) in their homes.
• To instill the culture of savings among the communities by introducing village savings and Micro loan schemes (VSMLS).
• To educate members on different issues concerning Law and Gender.

Programs:
• Child support project: By sponsoring a child through Kabira community Development and Child support Organisation ( KACODE) you have the opportunity to change the life of a child in desperate need of alternative family care.
• Agroforestry project: This program aims at fighting poverty and improving or conserving the environment through tree planting with particular emphasis to schools and the communities around them.
• Candle Making Income Generating Project: Some of the single parents being taken through a candle-making training process in a 10-day workshop. They are taught to maximise the use of materials that can be readily obtained on the local market.
• Tailoring Income Generating Project: Beneficiaries under this project are inducted through a 5 month course in tailoring skills. During this training, beneficiaries learn and develop skills in making shirts, trousers, skirts, school uniforms, African traditional wear such as kitengi, gomesi and kanzu.
• Piggery Income Generating Project: Beneficiaries under this project are first trained, together with at least one other member of their household in a two day basic livestock management course. In this training, the beneficiaries are also taught how to provide good care and support to pigs and how to raise them as a viable income generating project. At the end of the training course, the beneficiaries are supported to set up piggery housing structures before they are then given a ‘pig-seed’.
• Poultry Income Generating Project: The Beneficiaries under this project initially receive a two-day training short course on managing poultry as an income-generating activity (IGA). Follow-up training is also provided during implementation of the poultry project. All participants are given practical advice on preparing suitable structures to raise their poultry stock and when these are ready, they are then provided with the chicks.
• Economic Empowerment: We offer home based care and referrals to health centers like Mityana Hospital. Home based care includes our volunteers visiting members to understand the challenges being encountered and devising means of addressing the most pressing issues. We also offer free counseling sessions for HIV positive individuals and their families where desired. We also carry out Activities to help community awareness of HIV/AIDS, avoidance and prevention of stigmatisation.
• Water, Sanitation And Hygiene Improvement: KACODE helps communities to access clean water by renovating and constructing spring wells, hand dug wells, deep and shallow bore-wells and by supplying equipment to harvest rain water. KACODE helps community members to dig pit latrines. The organization also provides communities with poles and slabs. We also conduct community sensitization on the safe water chain, importance of hand washing and the maintenance of good hygiene.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
