About us
HOPE & WONDER is a registered association in Tanzania (NGO 0009892) with the aim to be there for disabled children and to give them a happy future.
Our goals
We want to give a home to special children in which are cared for holistically and with a lot of love. The premises, equipment, staff and support are specially designed for children with disabilities and it is a place where these children can experience a lot of love and acceptance. In addition, we want to sensitize the neighbourhood and the surrounding area to the subject of disability, offer affected families advice and support and stand up for the fact that children with disabilities, like any other child, are recognized as lovable, unique beings. We want to overcome prejudices and discrimination and stand for equal rights and participation for all children.
To support the project, there is the association «HOPE & WONDER Schweiz» in Switzerland and «HOPE&WONDER Deutschland e.V.» in Germany. The small associations should help that the dreams and visions of HOPE & WONDER in Tanzania come true.
Our work
On the outskirts of Dar es Salaam we built a children’s home for up to 12 children with disabilities, in which they will be supported in the best possible way and, above all, loved.
After two years of the HOPE & WONDER children's home, we have expanded our work since September 2021 and started the outreach program. With this program we want to visit, accompany and support families of disabled children at home.
The goal is to optimally care for the children in their families and to guide the parents/family in dealing with the child and to provide advice and support. In addition, we will take over health insurance for poor families so that the children can go to the hospital and receive the medicine they need free of charge. If necessary, we support you in procuring special equipment such as wheelchairs, standing boards, etc.
In this way we want to play our part in ensuring that disabled children receive the best possible support in their families and we try to prevent these children from being abandoned or killed.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
