Qui sommes-nous

UBU - Association for the support of disabled people in Uganda - is a German, non-profit association that aims to promote and support disabled people in Uganda, one of the 43 poorest countries in the world and with the greatest need for development. Our Ugandan partner organization is "Disability Sign World" from Kabale, Uganda (www.Disabilitysignworld.org).
We are an association of people who have been professionally involved in the development of assistance for people with disabilities for years. Helping people with disabilities is a matter close to our hearts. The UN disability rights convention is a milestone on this path. For the first time, the rights and principles of assistance for people with disabilities are being laid down worldwide and standards are being defined. In less developed countries in particular, such as Uganda, the living conditions of people with disabilities are often more than precarious.

Our statutory task is to provide financial, organizational and content-related support for organizations that take on the tasks of local disabled people in Uganda, especially the poor. People with disabilities are still often "people without rights".
State social security benefits as we know them in Europe often do not exist. As a rule, people with disabilities have neither an income nor any other help or support. They have to beg. Life is a struggle for survival. Small private initiatives and organizations that maintain contact with people and help alleviate the greatest need are often very important. Our partner organization in Kabale, Uganda "Disability Sign World" is such an organization. They seek out people / families in the region who are affected by disabilities. They identify with an individual's suffering, which is often characterized by poverty, lack of prospects, hunger but also by exclusion, abuse and persecution. Hunger, "something to eat", is often a central problem. Poor hygiene and neglect, no clothing, no provision of aids such as wheelchairs and walking aids, no basic medical supplies are also problems to be tackled.
Our donations in kind and money that we collect here in Europe flow 100% into our partner organization. We organize aid transports to Uganda. In particular, we collect (used) functional wheelchairs, walking frames, walking aids, canes, crutches, but also bed linen, large towels. In addition to the individual aid outlined above, there are plans to build a centre for people with disabilities in Kabale, which will accommodate around 50 people.

We can offer other net participants advice, give a lecture, provide up-to-date specialist information and provide contacts in the field of: assistance for the disabled, company organization.
