About us

African Citizens’ Initiative for Rights and Development (ACIRD) is a non-Government, non–profit, non- partisan development organisation working for the social-economic development as well as changing unjust structures, policies, reducing inequalities and empowering local communities and Women.
ACIRD could also be labelled as an implementing organization which designs and implements various developmental projects with the financial and technical support of international donor agencies and the government.

Objectives
• To create awareness on people’s fundamental human rights, minority and indigenous peoples’ rights as well as economic and social cultural (ECOSOC) rights.
• Create awareness on the implications of environmental degradation, and promoting mass consciousness on environmental management, protection and justice measures; as well as reduction of conflict in Nigeria and other parts of Africa
• To enhance capacity building through manpower development and other poverty reduction measures.
• Promoting democracy and good governance; community development programmes through collaboration, partnerships, networking
• To embark on advocacy services for the less privileged and other vulnerable members of society including women and children etc
• Promoting natural resources governance that will champion sustainable development primarily through political ecology, political economy as well as biophysical measures.
