About us

The Sanjeevini Ecological Service and Education Trust was formed in 1998 by Gnanmithra Jettappa in Sirwar, District Raichur, Karnataka, India. The Trust is a not for profit charitable trust under Karnataka State law. It was formed with the goals of helping poor villagers access quality medical care through its ambulance service and medical programs and helping poor villagers improve their life skills through health education, tailoring classes and vocational training.

One of its major goals is to help poor villagers receive excellent medical care and to empower them to take control over their lives so they can lead healthy prosperous lives.

Our work
• Ambulance: The Sanjeevini Trust’s Ambulance provides truly life saving service to the people of Sirwar and it's many surrounding villages.
• Eye Camp: The free Sanjeevini Trust Eye Camps are held three times a year in Sirwar and Manvi. In these camps, people are screened for eye problems, provided eye glasses and those with cataracts receive surgery.
• Medical Help for Poor: The Sanjeevini Trust helps patients with serious illness find the best doctor, hospital and treatment for their condition. Gnanmithra Jettappa, the director of the trust, knows many doctors throughout the state.
• Tailoring: The Sanjeevini Trust tailoring class for young women provides training in hand stitching and use of sewing machines. Each 6 month class has about 10 students who receive individualized training.
• Medical Camp: Once a year, the Sanjeevini Trust organizes free Medical Check-up Camps where people can get compete check ups for heart blockage, high blood pressure, stroke, high blood sugar, eye and dental problems, as well as receiving counseling for stopping smoking and drinking.
• Health Education: The Sanjeevini Trust conducts health education programs in Sirwar and surrounding villages to show villagers how to lead a healthy life and prevent the most common diseases. The programs include a Cancer Prevention Program and a Heart, Stroke and Diabetes Prevention Program.
• Childhood Vaccinations: Every year or so volunteers from the Trust go to bus stations and other central locations, to give polio vaccine to babies.
• Help for Poor: The Sanjeevini Trust helps support poor elderly or disabled people who have no means of support or extended family and also helps poor people with skill education and with starting small businesses.
• Marriage: Every few years, the Sanjeevini Trust organizes group marriages. In the most recent group marriage, 61 poor couples were married. This helps poor people avoid burdensome debts as they start their lives together.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
