Sobre nosotros

Trafficking is a hidden crime. In 2007/8 we began to realise just how widespread this crime was. Talks with a police officer gave shocking evidence of the scale of the problem in the UK. It was real. It was happening in our streets. We couldn’t ignore it, we wanted to respond, and so Unseen was formed, a charity working towards a world without slavery and human trafficking by supporting survivors and working to change the system.

Our Vision
Working towards a world without slavery:
• By supporting survivors and vulnerable people through specialist services we can enable them to recover safely and develop resilient, independent lives.
• By equipping stakeholders through the provision of training, advice and resources we can better identify and support actual and potential victims of slavery.
• By influencing society through systemic change we can use our practical experience, research and survivor stories to inspire change in legislation, policy, and consumer choices.

Objectives:
• Providing relief, help and assistance for anyone who may have been a victim of modern slavery, in particular by the provision of safe housing, medical care, financial support, legal advice, counselling and life skills coaching
• Raising awareness of trafficking and sexual exploitation in Bristol, the South West and nationally
• Such other charitable objects and for the benefit of such other charitable bodies and institutions as the committee shall in their absolute discretion see fit.

Projects:
• Unseen Women’s Safehouse: The Unseen women’s safehouse provides 24-hour safe accommodation and high-level support for up to eight survivors of human trafficking.
• Unseen Men’s Safehouse: The Unseen men’s safehouse provides 24-hour safe accommodation and high-level support for up to five survivors of human trafficking.
• Resettlement, Integration and Outreach (RIO): The Resettlement, Integration and Outreach (RIO) project provides practical and emotional support to victims of modern slavery and exploitation living in the community.
• UK Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline: The UK-wide Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline was set up in October 2016 and is a confidential and independent helpline providing information, advice and guidance to potential victims, businesses, statutory agencies and the public about any modern slavery issue.
• Training: Training workshops for professionals; accredited online training; Spotlight, our awareness sessions for schools.
