About us

Ein Bunter Bund mit Ghana e.V. is an organization that supports schools and students in Ghana. We are a diverse group of 9 founding members from different parts of Germany who met in in 2014 Ghana during their volunteer work.

Our Goal
Providing the best possible education for Students in Ghana in a learning-friendly environment and thereby establishing a good foundation for a bright future.

Achieving more together
Our work is "borderless“: We purchase products in Ghana and sell them in Germany. All our profits are then used to support our schools who engage local craftsmen and business owners.

Projects:
We are currently working with four privately managed schools (Endtime, Maranatha, P.Brainy, Sanbel) which are all located in Kasoa. Kasoa is a city, with about 40,000 residents located in Central Region in the South of Ghana, roughly 40 kilometers from the capital Accra. The schools have different levels of financial resources at their dispense and therefore vary in size, condition and available facilities. Currently the smalles school teaches 90 children, and the largest is visited by around 370 children.
We are in frequent contact with the respective schools and therefore have a good overview of the respective needs and ideas of the employees.
As the needs of the individual schools vary, some schools may still have very basic needs (such as building or extending an existing building), whereas other schools’ needs already revolve more around the equipment for students (purchasing teaching material such as notepads, books etc.).
• Endtime Academy: Endtime Academy is the smallest of the four schools and is located in the middle of the loud and busy Kasoa. The family Osei that runs the school lives on the school grounds. Therefore, their everyday family life also takes place there. Following the family model the students happily help get water or supervise younger children. After school and on weekends the school also offers a sort of day care for children from families facing difficult social circumstances.
• Sanbel School: Sanbel puts a large emphasis on early childhood care and primary school classes: two thirds of the students are younger than 10. The classrooms for the smaller children are colorful and kid-friendly. Another aspect we would like highlight is that the older students additionally receive French lessons from a native speaker.
• Maranatha School: The Maranatha School is located outside of Kasoa in a rapidly developing residential area called Millenium City. Maranatha is open: quite literally, as there is whether a wall nor any other confinement of the premises. The director of Maranatha is the most experienced of our headmasters, he has been running the school with his heart and soul since 1993. We especially want to highlight that John (due to his own personal story) allows orphans and “underprivileged” children to participate in classes free of charge.
• P. Brainy Kids Academy: The two-story building generally seems rather dark as on the ground floor there are only windows on the side of the rooms facing the school yard. The outer side of the school is almost completely walled-up with only a few holes for ventilation. The Kids Academy has its own little kiosk in which you can buy pencils, paper, water and some sweets. Toys of any kind are not sold, so the kids creativity is required to come up with fun break-time activities. The headmaster Benjamin Obeng continuously educates himself, visits training courses and is very interested in progressive teaching techniques. These are also implemented at P. Brainy Kids Academy. For example, the conventional front-facing education has been replaced by a more interactive teaching style that includes the students in class a lot more. The aim for the future is to continue to incorporate more practical elements in the classes.
