About us

In 2008, the initiators of our association, Katrin Hirt (née Schleicher) and Andrea Schwemmer, travelled to the small town of Dareda in Tanzania after completing their studies. There they wanted to get to know the country and its people and actively support the local small aid organization LISO Tanzania:
In March 2009 the association LISO Tanzania based in Brigachtal, southern Germany, was founded with the aim of collecting funds to support or organize aid projects of a partner organization in Tanzania, especially in Dareda.
To ensure that the money is used in the right place, members of the association work directly in Tanzania every year at their own expense.
In this way it has been possible to organize school books for the local school and preschool and many donations in kind and money have been given directly to those in need.

Project
The orphanage LISO Watoto Home is intended to give AIDS orphans a new home, appropriate health care and the opportunity to go to school in the long term. With our support, the local organization Liso Tanzania acquired a suitable vacant office building with electricity, water and satellite connections as well as a large garden at the beginning of 2012. Then some energetic members of the association helped to convert the building in a child-friendly way with the support of local craftsmen in the summer of 2012.
