Qui sommes-nous

Iseguri Initiative is a community based registered Non-profit, Non-religious and Non-governmental NGO that seeks to empower women and children in a wide range of areas through education on contemporary issues. Iseguri was formed in 2005 but incorporated under the Ghana Company Code, Act 179 in 2007.

Our work
• Iseguri was set up to deal with issues confronting women and children and provide a platform that advocate for women and children empowerment on issues of development.
• Iseguri comprised seven (7) member Board of Directors and four management staff responsible for its daily operations. Since its inception in 2006, Iseguri has worked with other development partners in the area of health, youth development and human rights issues.
• Iseguri Ghana organizes a number of community based activities with the goal of improving the well being and economic status of women. This group provides micro-credit to women in their community as well as training and support in order to meet these goals.

Projects:
• Iseguri is seeking for suppoort to enable us empower six (6) smallholder women farmers groups and three (3) disadvantaged teen and single mothers groups in local poultry production using the dropping of fowls for organic vegetable production and sacks gardening farming in Papase, Akum and Ahamansu the three major sand wining communities in the Kadjebi district of the Oti Region of Ghana.
• Iseguri Initiative has supported rural women smallholder farmers in the Oti Region of Ghana in organic agriculture and agroforestry practices. Over 2000 rural women smallholder farmers have adopted such practices to improve their farming activities, boost their income and rejuvenate marginal land for farming. :
• Women farmers were trained in growing groundnuts. :
• Iseguri Initiative received funds to improve the economic conditions of teen mothers. Ten women have been trained in Cassava cultivation. Many of the beneficiaries increased their income and produced enough money to repay the loan and sell Cassava Donuts to community members. :
• Ten women farmers were selected to receive improved varieties of rice seeds, and fertilizer as a means to help the quality of their yields. These women were trained on improved soil management techniques, various methods of organic farming and efficient storage techniques. :
During the third quarter of the year 2020, Iseguri Initiative led by its executives undertook numerous activities geared towards improvement of the economic status of smallholder women farmers and teen mothers in Dodi Papase community in the Kadjabi District of Oti Region, Ghana .The organization has undertaken the following projects and its activities in the Dodi Papase community and its environ to build capacity for women, teen and single mothers on the needs for Climate Smart Innovative Agriculture programs, Sack, vertical and backyard gardening, organic vegetables production, compost manure making using aquatic weeds and preserving green leafy vegetables and fruits to be use at homes to increase the nutritional value of children and their family. Formation of Communities Early Forced Child Marriages Advocacy Groups (CEFMAG), Formation of Girls Clubs in schools and churches, Formation of Girls Clubs in the Zongo communities in eight cocoa farming communities in the Kadjebi district where early child marriages is on increased during a survey conducted by Iseguri Initiative in the following communities. Papase, Kponkpa, Akum, Ahamansu, Cement, Dodo Amanfrom, Dodi, Mempeasem, Kordibeunm and Aboebruwaa, we found out that during schools lockdown due to the outbreak of COVID 19 in March 2020 to September 2020 the number of teenage pregnancy has raised from 7% to about 22% of girls of schools going age in upper primary schools class to Junior secondary schools aging from 13 to 16 years get pregnant which is leading to early forced child marriages in this communities. We also trained a number of selected communities’ Female Extension Volunteers in Agriculture (FEVA). These are leaders of various women groups in our operational areas that we trained to enable them pass on the knowledge acquired from Iseguri programs to their membership to learn from their leaders.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
