About us

We, The African Network of Germany, (TANG) are a nationwide network of African associations and individuals. We advise and network the African community in Germany and make it visible. Our network sees itself as a bridge builder between the public majority and the 800,000 members of the African diaspora.
We get involved. We advocate equal participation and a voice for migrant organizations. We bring our positions and points of view on German integration policies and policies on Africans into the political arena. On numerous committees we are committed to the interests of people with African roots. The topics of integration and development cooperation are our focus. We are also involved in refugee work and development cooperation with our own projects.
To date, 800 associations and individuals in eleven federal states have come together in the federal network TANG. TANG is a competent contact for politics and civil society.
TANG works independently, is non-partisan and non-denominational.

As a nationwide network of more than 800 African associations and individuals in Germany, we are committed to equal opportunities, participation and visibility of people of African origin. These are our points of view:
• racism and discrimination should be persecuted and punished
• Politics is for for everyone
• We say “yes” to the immigration society
• We should have a positive integration debate
• There should be equal participation
• Have a say- be included in decision making
• Combat the causes of flight

Current projects:
• Structural funding
• People strengthen people: help with the search for work, support in learning the language or getting to know cultural etiquette. Because integration is more than just going to the employment office or attending a language course, the sponsorship program “People Strengthen People” creates a basis for permanent and personal encounters.
• Your development cooperation step by step: This project advises, supports, accompanies and qualifies 170 selected project initiators with African roots who are involved in local development cooperation and in combating the causes of displacement in their countries of origin.
• Naturalization campaign
• Lost Dreams: Title of an awareness campaign that educated young people and their parents in seven African countries about the dangers and consequences of irregular migration, informed them about the real life situation of irregular migrants in Europe and pointed out the possibilities of legal entry into Germany.
• Where I sing is my home - a musical integration project
• Shaping diversity
• Together for more participation
• MiA - migrant women simply strong in everyday life: The MiA courses accompany refugee women on their arrival and advancement in Germany. The participants are introduced to the German language in small groups. Previous knowledge of the German language is not required. Topics that concern women are discussed.

Dr. Sylvie Nantcha is federal chairwoman and member of the executive board of The African Network of Germany (TANG).

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
