Sobre nosotros

Goals for Girls was launched in 2007 and is a joint UNICEF and FIFA initiative.

Our Mission
At Goals for Girls we use soccer to develop leadership skills in young women and teach them how to be agents of change in their own lives and in their communities.

What we do
We connect girls from different countries and backgrounds with their peers around the world to address social and health challenges through cultural exchange, leadership development, and soccer. Since 2007, we have used this unique platform to help disadvantaged girls across the globe by providing life skills education, all taught through the game of soccer.

Programs:
• We are passionate about teaching young women leadership and inspiring community change through the beautiful game. At Goals for Girls, we strive to equip young girls with leadership skills that will prepare them to become active change makers and leaders in their communities. We believe every girl, no matter who she is or where she comes from, has the capacity to make significant change in the world.
• India: At our annual India Leadership Summit we focus on our 4 International Summit pillars, which are: Awareness, Communication, Teamwork and Goal Setting. In additional, we use customized activities that address local issues affecting our participants, including child marriage, education inequality, gender-based violence, climate change, self-esteem, and girls’ rights to enter places of worship or public spaces during menstruation.
• Southern Africa: At our annual South Africa Leadership Summit, we focus on our 4 International Summit pillars, which are : Awareness, Communication, Teamwork and Goal Setting. In additional, we use customized activities that address local issues affecting our participants including HIV, education inequality, gender-based violence, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
• U.S.A.: Our US based Leadership Summits focus on personal development, leading a team, and leadership in the community. In additional, we use customized activities that address local issues affecting our participants including mental health, body image, confidence and breaking through barriers.

Our initiatives:
• Global Exchanges
• Leadership Summits: Goals for Girls Leadership Summits serve as a unique platform that bring girls from diverse backgrounds together to learn how to be better leaders on and off the pitch. Sessions are taught on the soccer field and in the classroom, and focus on inspiring girls to be stronger leaders in their community. All leadership summits globally also include soccer skills development and friendly competitions.
• International Summits: Our International Summits focus on our 4 International Summit pillars, which are: Awareness, Communication, Teamwork and Goal Setting. Depending on the location of a Summit, we add additional messaging that is appropriate to the local context and addresses challenges young women face in their communities. These include: feminine hygiene awareness, HIV advocacy, conflict resolution, child marriage, education inequality, gender-based violence, climate change, body image, and many others.
• Change Projects: During Summits, Goals for Girls teaches girls a user centered design process of creating change, which includes community surveying, data synthesis and analysis, ideation, storyboarding, and presentation. Girls focus their projects on collaboration, creativity, and impact.
• Young Leaders Academy: The mission of the Goals for Girls Young Leaders Academy is to offer carefully selected emerging female leaders with leadership development and soccer training, with the focus of empowering girls to lead community change and serve as role models in their community, inspiring the younger generations.
