About us

Aim for the Awareness of Society "AAS" - meaning "Hope", in Hindi, is devoted to "establishing the hope for positive change in the society". It is the endeavour of AAs to serve and make the society more capable to face challenges of deprived ones, especially women and children. Established in 2005 as an initiative by a group of mere seven like minded youths to bring a new vision and thought to the society and individuals, AAS is working for child development, women empowerment and behavioural improvement of the society.

Our mission:
To work in collaboration with community, government and private sector for the women and child development, protection & education.

The organization has been working towards creating child friendly world in which every child would have all opportunity for their holistic development. We believes that Child development and protection could not be achieved by only working with children but this should be a comprehensive approach to include each and every stakeholder affecting the child development. AAs has adopted its 4Ps model i.e. Protection of every child from any abuse, Prevention by engaging all the direct and indirect stakeholders by conducting sensitization workshops and training programmes for creating child friendly atmosphere, People’s Participation to ensure the participation every stakeholder i.e. children, parents, child care institutions, Police and other line departments to ensure their participation for creating child friendly spaces, and Propagate child rights issues at different forums to influence decision makers to develop child friendly policies and laws in the country.

Projects:
• CHILD LINE is a national 24-hour free phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection.
• Project Sewa: This child development projects has identified about 50 children consisting of 25 boys and 25 girls in four villages who belong to single parent or below poverty line families. These children were selected with the help of an intensive need assessment exercise conducted by AAs. Care is taken for the holistic development of children by concentrating on their health, nutrition, education and skill development. .
• Project mMitra: mMitra is a free mobile voice call service that provides culturally appropriate comprehensive information on preventive care and simple interventions to reduce maternal and infant mortality and morbidity in urban..
• Project Sarthi: Sarthi is a technology based platform that aims to build a well – informed and empowered nation. It has been developed to serve the underserved and under privileged by putting the needs of the Citizens First. Sarthi is a robust platform of Not for Profit institutions, individuals, civil societies, Local government bodies and communities all working towards one common goal of making India, a better nation. This platform is a bridge between Change Seekers (beneficiaries) and Change Makers (NGO/Corporate Foundation/CBO Partners).
• Water and Sanitation: AAS Organization operates various projects addressing water and sanitation issues. AAS has hands on experience in the community managed water supply in urban areas and it has successfully completed conjunctive water management project. As has worked for toilet construction in the urban areas with the help of community mobilization. It has also organized mass awareness programmes on the occasion of World Water Day, World Toilet Day, Global Hand Washing Day etc..
• Social Research: AAS Organization has successfully completed various research projects in Indore covering various development issues such as water and sanitation, Traffic, Wet market, Local economic development etc..
• Slum improvement projects: AAS has implemented conjunctive water management project in two slums in Indore named Rahul Gandhi Nagar and Devshrinagar. Organization has hands on experience in community mobilization on water and sanitation, water conservation and development of community based systems for water management. Besides this organization has its volunteer’s network in the 50 slums of Indore and with the help of these volunteers, organization implements various social awareness programmes on a regular basis.
• Livelihood promotion of urban women: Organization is conducting various livelihood training programmes for the urban women in Indore. The main objective of this programme is to increase availability of good livelihood options for the urban women at their door steps and support communities in market development.
• The blood donor network: AAS acts as a facilitator by connecting people who need blood and blood donors.
