About us

OuagaNet is a 501-c-3 grassroot nonprofit organization founded in 2005 and based in Florida and operates in rural areas of Burkina Faso, a poor country in West Africa. All our associates are benevolent people who lend their skills, expertise and time to help fight extreme poverty in rural areas of Burkina Faso.
Our philosophy consists of empowering the local villagers by providing them with the means to fight extreme poverty (goats to raise, seeds for gardening and farming, drip irrigation systems, tools, training about gardening, training in basic health care such as treating cuts and wounds as well as HIV/AIDS awareness). We are also active in the area of education by supporting the youth with basic school supplies such as pens, pencils, erasers and clothing to wear for the most indigent students.

Our approach consists of implementing projects and providing feedback to our supporters in the form of videos and photos for every realization. We want our supporters to clearly see the impact of their actions whether it’s a donation of second hand clothing, medicine, purchasing goats for women, providing seeds, etc.

We believe that extreme poverty is a society problem and it’s when people come together, heart to heart and hand to hand with a sense of love and compassion that we can effectively tackle extreme poverty by empowering the people with the tools for becoming self-sufficient.

What we do
• We empower women by giving them goats to raise as a way of fighting extreme poverty.
• We provide fences, seeds and gardening tools to empower the villagers in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.
• We support the villagers with first aid medical needs
• We help the youth with education

Projects
• Moringa Oleifera trees planting project: OuagaNet intervenes in the protection of the environment by donating trees to villagers to plant. We donate the Moringa Oleifera plants which leaves are very rich in vitamins and minerals. As a result, the Moringa Oleifera provides health benefits in addition to protecting the environment. The leaves are used to fight malnutrition and cooked like any other green vegetable in sauces. The Moringa is also used to treat joint pain, anemia, constipation, ulcers, high blood pressure, diabetes, epilepsy and many other heath related conditions.
• Goats for women project: This project aims to empower women by donating them goats to raise for their livelihood. The offspring can be sold locally and the proceeds help women buy clothing and food. During difficult times such as unforeseen health cases, offspring can be sold to help pay for medicine
• Gardening to fight hunger and malnutrition: The concept is about teaching men how to fish. We provide seeds, fertilizers, gardening tools and often fences to create gardens. Men and women work in small groups in those gardens to plant okra, tomato, pepper and many other fresh vegetable. The harvest is used for the immediate families consumptions.
• Clean water project: Clean water is vital to life. The well provides round the clock free water source for the entire village . Clean water in addition to quenching thirst and serving for cooking, is essential in ensuring that villagers don’t contract water-borne diseases. We want to provide more water sources that will help the community also with irrigated gardening.
