Qui sommes-nous

Hilo Rojo is a development NGO striving to improve the life conditions of the most marginalized peruvian communities. Hilo Rojo is a non profit organization who values team work and cooperation. We are a team of Peruvian and international volunteers committed in developing education through the perspective of different cultures. We want to apply our set of skills and knowledge to help the vulnerable population living in Esperanza disctrict in Trujillo, Peru.
Hilo Rojo is a Peruvian NGO established in 2013. Its main objective is not only to give educational and social assistance to children in extreme poverty, who can’t afford to go to school and who are exposed to violence on a daily basis, but also to provide help to their families who are generally socially excluded.
Hilo Rojo is implementing assistance programs in the areas of education, child labor, health, nutrition and family assistance. We work with the most vulnerable groups, regardless of race, religion and social status.
Hilo Rojo works in the district of 'La Esperanza', this is one of the most populated districts within the province of Trujillo. At this moment there are more than 200,000 people living there.

Mission
Create projects and initiatives toward abandoned and vulnerable communities.

Our objectives
• Social participation: Involve people to find solutions to problems through dialogues and cultural exchange.
• Social awareness: Make people, in particular youth, more aware of what they can bring to their communities.
• Compromise: Encourage each region to back up local initiatives to mitigate social deprivation.
• Development according to human dignity: Promote human dignity culturally and ethically, particularly equality of opportunities between men and women and child rights.

Projects:
• Education projects: Bilingual Alternative School; School reinforcement - Sponsored Children - ; We work with children in and outside the classroom by providing them curricular and extracurricular activities in the afternoon. Children that don't go to school - We work with children who have never gone to school, have left school for financial reasons, have been abandoned or have to work to help their family. Important activities to achieve those objectives are the following : the creation of an alternative education system, teach about everything, control the family situation of underage children.
• Community program: We allow families to develop their income thanks to different economic entrepreneurship projects, especially for mothers, and we keep track of ongoing activities; Community aid is based above all on groups of volunteers that help with NGO projects to the Esperanto community where the children of Hilo Rojo live. These projects are mainly: Arrange and decorate the school, facades, patio and classrooms, Repair children's houses, Construction of tire roads on the hill, Construction of rest devices for the community such as benches and awnings, Others
• Economic development: Red Point Project - Empowerment project for the women of La Esperanza. The women of our community joined with the support of Hilo Rojo and the volunteers making handmade products to be able to get out of poverty. Apart from the production of tissues, women are part of a training and development project for their skills and knowledge. Between weekly English classes and women's ministry talks, our struggling mothers have the keys and tools to be entrepreneurial women.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
