Sobre nosotros

Hands on Peru is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Peru and US and co-founded by two global health advocates, Katie Baric, MPH, from North Carolina and Rosa Sanchez-Brem, RN from Trujillo, Peru. Hands on Peru was founded in 2013 as a response to the deep inequities in access to medical care among the rural poor of Peru and the societal structures that actively or passively sustained this injustice.
We deeply recognize the importance of cultural exchange and global awareness of such public health needs in low and middle income countries, and we work to fill those gaps through the use of international medical volunteers. We hope to inspire all of our 100+ volunteers to return to low income countries to give service as their careers later develop.

Mission of Hands on Peru
Hands on Peru (HOP) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit with an international commitment to improving access to public health and preventive health services and quality health education for disempowered and marginalized communities in Peru.
HOP serves as an educational platform for students around the world, to give them hands on opportunities to engage in community public health interventions, molding the next generation of public health professionals.

Vision for Hands on Peru
To generate change in the face of healthcare in Peru, shifting the paradigm from curation to prevention.

Our Philosophy
To reduce multidimensional poverty and stimulate behavior change through participatory public health interventions.

Projects:
CESAPU (Centro de Salud Pública) is a pioneer center in the practice of public health that develops programs to promote physical, mental, and communal health in the village of Villa Los Angeles, Huanchaquito Peru. Together with a team of international donors and local professionals, they built CESAPU as a solution to prevent even more of Peru’s poor to bear the physical, financial, and emotional burdens of preventable disease. CESAPU is the main project of HOP Hands on Peru and it is located in the district of Huanchaco, Province of Trujillo, Department of La Libertad. It is located between Trujillo City and Huanchaco Beach and easily accessible via public transportation.
Mission of CESAPU
