About us

COWOCE is an abbreviation of Companion of Women and Children Empowerment. COWOCE was established on 22th of October, 2007 as a CBO was called Ebeneza Group working to cover Shinyanga Region and later registered as an NGO on 21th August, 2018
COWOCE is a non-partisan, non-religious and non-profit organization geared at promoting human rights and community development .COWOCE was established with the aim of preventing and controlling HIV/AIDS and its effects in the community.
COWOCE started working on four core programs which are; HIV/AIDS control and prevention, child and youth protection, the women empowerment, elderly and children prevention of gender based violence, child marriages and early pregnancies.

Vision
To see a community where women, children and elders are empowered, environment are protected, healthy with stable economy.

Mission
To empower women, children and the community with the right tools that help them to fight diseases, ignorance, poverty and all forms of discrimination through education, empowerment and participation.

What we do
• Children: From birth to age eight, children take the first steps in a lifelong learning journey. COWOCE speeds them on their way by designing, studying, supporting, and scaling up programs that enhance school readiness and success. We have a special focus on meeting the needs of children from disadvantaged communities and dual language learners, engaging and supporting families, and building the capacity of educators and communities to sustain improvements. We make advocacy and lobbying about children’s rights through Public meetings, social media, radio, television, as well as to build capacity of children and community through training to prevent child rights. COWOCE is implementing innovative early childhood programs that build literacy and numeracy skills excite interest in learning, and help educators, volunteers, and parents enrich early learning.
• Youth: Integrate Entrepreneurship and Education COWOCE is building capacity of young people to become self employed by providing Vocational training on carpentry, welding, tailoring and entrepreneurial training.
• Women: COWOCE advocacy the economic rights of women, gender equality and building capacity to know and claim their rights as well as to develop economic development. Also COWOCE is providing loans to support small business women in the community.
• Elderly: We advocate for treatment rights for the elderly. COWOCE provide equality and building capacity to know and claim their rights as well as to develop economic Development. Also COWOCE has provided education to the society to support programs for the rights for the elders.
• HIV/AIDS: COWOCE implementing education especially to young boys and girls, helps save lives by improving knowledge of HIV/AIDS among young people. In this area we provide education for communities to prevent new infections through public meetings as well as training. COWOCE helps poor AIDS patients to get food and clothes. Also COWOCE helps them to get education and medical support.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
