Qui sommes-nous

100 Friends was founded by Marc Gold in 1989 as a grassroots effort to provide funds and various services for those not receiving assistance from any other sources.

The idea is really very simple. Every year many people like you contribute to the project and I take the money to developing countries and look for the neediest people I can find. We use the funds for basic living expenses, scholarships, support for the elderly, income-generating small businesses, medical expenses, school supplies, shelter, transportation, educational expenses, food, clothing, farm animals, building libraries, schools, toilets and much more.
You put the donation into my hands and I put the funds directly into the hands of the needy individuals or families, or a small trusted representative or grassroots organization helping them. I document everything with written reports, photos, video and more.

Our main focus is on helping the most vulnerable, namely children, impoverished families and the elderly. There is only one specific criterion which defines those we aim to bring aid to, and that is that they are in need of help which they are not getting from any other source. Usually our trusted local partners connect us to the individual or family in need of our help.
Often as a condition of aid we have a policy called "Paying It Forward." When we ask someone to pay it forward, it simply means that we ask them to repay by doing a good deed for someone else. In this way, they can help others to keep spreading kindness to even more people. We have had hundreds of examples of this over the last 30 years.

We focus on the most practical needs such as income-generating projects, education, medical expenses, food, shelter, clothing, school supplies, transportation and more.
