About us

The Swiss Energy Foundation (SES) was founded in 1976 and has been committed to an intelligent, environmentally and humane energy policy ever since. This is based on the 2000 Watt Society.

The SES is committed to the efficient use of energy and the promotion and use of renewable energy sources. It shows ways in which Switzerland can free itself from the fateful dependency of a fossil or atomic energy supply.

The Swiss Energy Foundation (SES) is committed to providing Switzerland with an energy supply that meets the needs of the population in a sustainable manner. This also includes:
• that the supply will largely become independent of increasingly scarce fossil fuels such as oil and gas,
• that unmanageable dangers are avoided, in particular the destabilization of the climate on earth and the generation of highly hazardous nuclear waste for millennia, and
• that all types of environmental pollution do not exceed a level that is acceptable in the long term.

The SES always considers these problems in a global context, but concentrates its work on Swiss energy policy.

How we work
Knowledge - Information - Discussion
SES contributes to the formation of public opinion and decision-making processes at the political level by cultivating contact and exchanges with authorities, political bodies, business representatives, scientific institutes, media professionals and the citizens of their communities. Instruments for this are e.g. media releases and press articles, the website, the "Energy & Environment" magazine and other publications, consultation responses, externally prepared studies, direct contacts with parliamentarians and specialist conferences organized by the SES.

Valentin Schmidt is the Head of Communication at the Swiss Energy Foundation (SES).

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
